Our Beliefs

 What We Believe:

We believe that the Bible is the authoritative word of God.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 – “All Scripture is inspired by God and Profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in Righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died on the cross that God raised Him from the dead, and that no one comes to the Father except through Him.
Acts 2:32-33 – “This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses. Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear.”
Acts 4:12 – “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
We believe that those who believe, repent, confess that Jesus is God’s Son, and are immersed through baptism into Him for the remission of their sins are added to His Church.
Acts 2:38 – Peter said to them, “repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 2:46-47 – “Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.”
We believe that the Holy Spirit is present in the life of every baptized believer to empower us to live the lives He calls us to live.
Romans 8:11 – “But if the spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who indwells you."
Priorities:
Life Change : Our vision is for WDCC to be a body of God’s people where each person is continually being transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ by growing daily through Bible study, prayer, and other spiritual disciplines. This will lead to generous giving of our time, talents, and finances.
1 John 1:6-7 – “IF we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
Sharing Jesus : This transformation will lead us to more effectively share our lives and the good news of Jesus with others. This will help us reach out and bring our community to Christ.
Hebrews 13:16 – “And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
I Timothy 4:12 – “Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.”
Prayer: The power of a continual, rich prayer life is an integral part of who we are. This will lead to a ministry of prayer for the West Dyersburg church and its community.
Philippians 4:6 – “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
I Thessalonians 5:16-18 – “Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Assembly: Our assembly is a vital part of our continual sacrifice of praise and worship. Therefore, we endeavor to make our collective worship periods joyful as well as seeker friendly. Our goal is to be unselfish so we can more effectively bless and edify others. This will lead to uplifting worship for our family and will be warm and welcoming to our visitors.
Hebrews 10:24-25 – “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”
Equipping: Our vision is to help each other recognize our spiritual gifts and to use them in His service.
Ephesians 4:11-12 – “And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;”
Relationships: Our commitment is to nurture and develop Godly relationships. Our attitude will be like Christ in that we treat others better than ourselves. This will create stronger friendships, families, and marriages. We believe that God’s intent is that marriage is to be between one man and one woman and should last a lifetime.
Romans 12:10 – “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor;”
Ephesians 6:1-4 – “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother. . .”
Genesis 2:24 – “For this reason a man shall leave his father and is mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.”
Matthew 19:8 – “He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way.
